Ask Dr. Orloff

How can one not become arrogant when they step into their power?

Question: Dear Dr. Orloff:

Every time I step into my power I seem to unintentionally hurt others. This forces me to withdraw and keep out of other people's way so I'm not disrupting them. How can one empower themselves and yet not become arrogant or lose their way?
Thanks,
Sharon
Pleasant Hill, CA

Answer: Dear Sharon:

Humility is a beautiful thing. The more powerful you become, the more humble I am suggesting that you get. When you step into your power, try to be of service to people, helping them. Keep a vigilant eye on your ego and talk to it when it gets out of control. Everyone needs to keep their ego in check. It's a sign of maturity to be aware enough to ask this wonderful question that you submitted.
All the best,
Judith
