Summary of Article

We have all likely felt strong body cues in certain situations of our lives. It could feel like a knot in our stomach when we are faced with a difficult decision or an indescribable inner knowing that we just shouldn’t take that new job. Intuition is the ability to know something as an instinctive feeling rather than analytical reasoning (trusting your gut).

Scientists believe intuition operates through the right side of the brain and through our gut, producing that gut-feeling so many of us can recognize.  While this inner guidance is available to all of us, researchers believe female intuition may be stronger than that of a male. Women’s brains may be more optimized for intuitive decision-making because of their highly developed corpus callosum (the bridge between the left (intellectual) and right (intuitive) hemispheres of the brain).

We’re also taught that intuition is associated with being in touch with emotions. Since being emotional is more socially acceptable for women, they may tune in to their gut more. In this Cosmo article I share how to recognize your gut feelings and begin to tap into your inner knowing as a guide for life.
