Summary of Article
In my psychotherapy practice, more and more patients are coming to me exhausted, angry, depressed, and overwhelmed by what’s happening in this country and in the world. Having empathy means putting yourself in someone else’s shoes – even if you don’t agree with them. It is easy to become triggered by the people and situations around us, but having empathy means approaching situations from your highest self rather than reacting from your lower self, which is defensive and wants to lash out.
Empathy is the sacred medicine the world needs and empaths (highly sensitive people who can actually feel other person’s emotions in their own body) are naturally able to provide it. In this interview with Anchor Magazine, I share an excerpt from The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People and discuss how empaths can change the world once they get the tools to support themselves.
