Studies show that couples suffer 50% more sleep disturbances if they share a bed. Sleep is a critical way that we heal our physical and emotional bodies and our bed is the temple to support that healing. Empaths are highly sensitive people who absorb the stresses and emotions of others into their physical bodies. They are even more vulnerable to taking on those energies when they’re tired. Empaths are often light sleepers so sharing a bed with a partner who is snoring or tossing can have a significant impact on an empath’s well-being. As I wrote in The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People, sleeping in the same bed with someone else can be overrated.
