Can someone be an empath and also a narcissist?

Answer: People who have true narcissistic personality disorder also have an empathy deficient disorder – so, it is unlikely that they are empaths. In my book The Genius of Empathy I write about this disorder and how to identify this trait in others. People who aren’t full-blown narcissists can exhibit some narcissistic traits and may also have some empathic traits. These people who simply have some traits have the potential to heal, change and show more empathy. In contrast those with Empathy Deficient Disorder are neurologically wired differently so true empathy is much harder, if not impossible, to access in themselves. Those with this type of disorder focus on their own needs and neglect or don’t care about the feelings of others. They lack a moral compass.

I offer an online workshop “Healing the Toxic Attraction Between Empaths and Narcissists” in which I discuss how to break the narcissist’s hold on your life so you can begin to create healthy relationships.Learn more here: Here.
